General Construction

We began by jacking up and excavating the basement floor to install new drain lines for the bathroom. After removing the concrete and excess dirt, we backfilled around the plumbing and poured a new concrete slab.

The project included framing four new walls with 2x4 lumber, cutting a new door access in an existing wall, and insulating all walls and the ceiling with R13 and R30 insulation, respectively. We then installed 1/2" moisture resistant drywall, followed by priming, painting, and finishing the walls and ceiling.

The concrete floor was prepped for the installation of luxury vinyl plank flooring. We also installed a 32’’ prehung door, baseboard trim, and door casing to complete the construction.

Plumbing

The plumbing work involved running a new 4’’ PVC pipe for the toilet, shower, and vanity, tying it into the existing main line. We installed all necessary traps and ran a 2’’ vent line up the rear of the house to vent the bathroom. New water lines were installed for the shower, vanity, and toilet, along with all required valves. We relocated the washing machine and removed one existing slop sink while keeping the second in place. The bathroom was outfitted with a new 36’’ x 36’’ stand-up shower, a 36’’ vanity, and fixtures for the shower and vanity. Finally, we set a new toilet to complete the plumbing work.

Electrical

For the electrical work, we ran a new circuit from the electrical panel to the bathroom and wired it for lighting, a vent fan, and GFI outlets. We relocated the washer and dryer electrical connections and installed a 100 CFM vent fan with a light, both controlled by separate switches. The vent fan was vented out of an existing window next to the dryer vent. Additionally, we installed a vanity light and a convenience outlet on the dividing wall. All final electrical connections were made in the panel.
