Dive into our latest kitchen remodel in Sinking Spring, PA, where we turned a dated kitchen into a modern, open-plan masterpiece. This involved a complete overhaul of a family kitchen, seamlessly integrating it with the dining and living areas to create a more open and inviting space.
Demolition and Prep work
We began by disconnecting the plumbing and removing the old kitchen cabinets, countertops, and a bulkhead above the cabinets. We also took down the existing pantry and a wall separating the kitchen from the dining room, along with a section of the main stack and a knee wall at the living room. Carpets in the family room were removed to prepare for new flooring. To accommodate the re-routing of the 4” main stack, we extended the exterior wall by 1”. We then installed new drywall to get ready for cabinet instillation .
Electrical
We replaced the old ceiling lights with six new recessed LED lights, while adding an additional recessed light over the sink and three pendant lights over the island. Additional updates included installing multiple outlets throughout the kitchen, under-cabinet lighting, and running new electrical connections for appliances like the refrigerator and microwave.
Plumbing
In this phase, our plumbing team focused on improving the functionality and convenience of the kitchen's appliances. We started by installing a new line for the dishwasher and running a fresh water line to support the refrigerator's ice machine. The dishwasher was then carefully put in place and connected. We also installed the sink faucet and a new garbage disposal to help with kitchen food waste. We added valves and traps to support the newly ran water lines. Lastly, we had to relocated the gas line to better suit the new kitchen layout.

Flooring
For our flooring, we began by installing ½” OSB over the existing floors in the living room and family room to bring them up to the correct elevation. This created a level base for the new flooring with a seamless transition between rooms. Following this, we laid the new luxury vinyl plank throughout the kitchen, dining room, and adjacent areas.
Finish Carpentry And Painting
After a coat of primer, we gave the kitchen and dining room a beautiful new look with a finish coat of paint on the walls and ceilings. Following this, we installed new cabinets per the layout, ensuring every cabinet was level and plum. To complement these, we added all necessary fillers and trim pieces to achieve a seamless finish. We then proceeded with the installation of new quartz countertops, custom templated to fit the personalized dimensions of the kitchen. A stylish subway tile backsplash was installed next. Finally, we placed a 72” x 25” x 1.5” butcher block atop the cabinets under the double window. This was one of our favorite parts of the job as it gave the kitchen a very unique look.
